Talcum Powder

Many commonly used hygiene products contain talc, more commonly known as Talcum Powder once it is finely ground. Known for keeping skin dry and rash free, Talcum Powder can be found in:

• Deodorant
• Body powder
• Medical powder

When talcum powder is used near the genitals, talc particles can travel up the reproductive tract and enter the ovaries. Because the body has a difficult time removing talc particles, they may remain in the ovarian tissue and cause inflammation, which may cause cancerous tumors to form.

The serious threat of ovarian cancer caused by talc-based powder has prompted thousands of women to pursue lawsuits.

Recently, a class action lawsuit was filed against Johnson & Johnson, the manufacturer of several talcum-based powder products. According to the lawsuit, Johnson & Johnson was well aware of a possible link between talcum powder used near the genitals and ovarian cancer, yet continued to and continues to sell these “potentially lethal” products to women without any warnings.
