Depo-Provera, a long-acting birth control injection, has been the subject of rising legal claims due to its potential link to brain tumors, specifically meningiomas.

Meningioma risk

A March 2024 study published in the British Medical Journal showed a 5.5 times increased risk of developing meningiomas in women who had used progestin-based medications like Depo-Provera.

Women affected by meningiomas may face significant medical challenges.The lawsuits claim that Pfizer was negligent in its duty to inform consumers, resulting in unnecessary harm and suffering.

6,200+ claims

More than 6,200 Depo-Provera lawsuits have been filed in federal court, with thousands more pending or coordinated as part of the ongoing multidistrict litigation (MDL).

Initial trials

Pfizer and plaintiffs in the federal Depo-Provera multidistrict litigation reached a tentative global settlement in June 2026 to resolve thousands of these claims.
